The Indonesia Masters Badminton Championship 2023 is set to commence on January 24 (Tuesday) and it will conclude on January 29 (Sunday). Top Indian shuttlers, who had a disappointing Indian Open 2023, will be looking to bounce back and give a good account of themselves at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta, Indonesia. The tournament which is officially known as Daihatsu Indonesia Masters, will be held in the Super 500 category. Meanwhile, a total of 80 singles and 108 doubles teams from across the globe will be in action in Jakarta. Top Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen will carry India’s hopes at the tournament, while HS Pranoy, who won the championship in 2014, could be the dark horse in the competition. Two time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu and top indian men’s doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will miss the event because of various reasons.

Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn and South Korean An Se Young are entering the tournament on the back of India open triumphs in the men’s and women’s singles categories respectively, last week. Top seed Viktor Axelsen of Denmark, who lost the final of the Super 750 tournament on Sunday, has pulled out of the Indonesia Masters due to fitness issues. Therefore Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia will be the top seeded men’s singles player in Jakarta. Meanwhile, Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi, who finished runner up in India , will be the top seeded women’s singles player in Indonesia.
