Commonwealth Games 2022: Badminton Day 7 Schedule, Fixture and Live Streaming Details

Two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu will begin her women’s singles campaign against Maldives’ F Abdul Razzaq, while Srikanth will be up against Uganda’s D. Wanagaliya in his men's singles opening round clash.

Indian badminton players will begin their individual campaigns at the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Thursday. On Tuesday, In the mixed team event, the India team had to settle for a silver after losing the final to Malaysia with a scoreline of 3-1. In the first match of the tie the men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chiriag shetty lost to Malaysian pair of T Chia and W Soh. And then in the women’s singles match PV Sindhu got the better of world number 60 Goh Jin Wei 22-20, 21-17. Kidambi Srikanth surprisingly came up with an underwhelming performance and lost the third match of the tie 21-19, 6-21, 21-16. And then, the women’s doubles pair of T. Jolly and G. Pullela lost to K Tan and M Thinaah. 

After the disappointment of not able to retain the gold medal in the mixed team event, the likes of Sindhu, Srikanth and the rest of the Indian shuttlers would be desperate to make amends for the loss by doing their best in the individual and doubles events. Two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu will begin her women’s singles campaign against Maldives’ F Abdul Razzaq, while Srikanth will be up against Uganda’s D. Wanagaliya in his opening round clash. The mixed doubles duo of Sumeeth Reddy and Ashwini Ponappa will take on England’s Callum Hemming and Jessica Pugh in the round of 32 match.
