Defending champion PV Sindhu suffered a straight game defeat to world No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei in the women’s singles quarterfinals to bow out of the BWF World Badminton Championship 2021 in Huelva, Spain on Friday. Tai Tzu beat the Indian shuttler 21-17, 21-13 in a match that lasted 42 minutes. Two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu found it difficult to handle Tai Tzu’s speed, court coverage and drop shots as has been the case many times in the past.

Although Sindhu managed to produce some stunning cross-court smashes, she stumbled to many unforced errors. The win extended the head-to-head record between the top players to 15-5 in favour of Tai Tzu. Sindhu had earlier lost to the top seed in the Tokyo Olympics semi-finals earlier this year.
Despite brilliant efforts, @Pvsindhu1 won’t progress further at #BWFWorldChampionships2021 but what a year it has been for 2️⃣ time Olympic medalist.
