Indian para-athletes showcased a commendable performance at the recently held World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2022 held in Marrakech. The athletes ended their campaign with a total of 19 medals, earning seven gold, eight silver, and four bronze medals. The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic silver medalist Nishad Kumar shone yet again bagging the gold and creating a new Asian record (2.10m jump) in men’s high jump T42/47. Ajith Singh (64.77m) got past compatriot Devendra Jhajharia (60.97m) to win the gold in the men’s javelin (F42/43/44/46/64) event. Devendra who is a two-time Paralympic gold medalist and Tokyo silver medalist in the men’s Javelin secured the silver medal.
