Trayvon Bromell is a track and field athlete from the United States who excels in sprinting. Bromell regained his lost form and set a new personal best and world record for the 100-meter dash with a time of 9.77 seconds in 2021. He triumphed over Ronnie Baker and Fred Kerley to win the 2021 Olympic Trials. Bromell finished third in his semi-final at the Tokyo Summer Olympics in 2020 but was unable to advance to the 100-meter final. Bromell won the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi, Kenya on September 18, 2021, with a timing of 9.76 seconds, breaking his personal best. Following that, he won the bronze medal in the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, Oregon, finishing behind Fred Kerley and Marvin Bracy.

The native of St. Petersburg, Florida, participated in his first race at the age of six after being manually chosen for a local young squad after outpacing the local kids in a footrace and has  never looked back. With his mother working 12-hour days and him growing up in a difficult neighborhood, Bromell did not lack for hardship in his early years. He always appeared to find comfort on the track. But later he was hindered by his injuries. He injured his left knee while performing a front flip in eighth grade, his right knee while participating in AAU basketball in ninth grade, and his hip while competing in high school track in the tenth grade.

Even though he faced a lengthy road to recovery, it was his mother’s encouragement that kept Bromell going. It took three years, but he eventually got his chance to race at the high school level as a senior and did an outstanding job. He finished the Great Southwest Classic in 2013 with a timing of 9.99 seconds, which was aided by the wind. Before becoming professional, he successfully completed a two-year collegiate career at Baylor, where he won two individual NCAA championships – 100 m outdoor in 2014 and 200 m indoor in 2015. His Diamond League season was halted due to a grade-one Achilles tendon sprain as he prepared for the American Olympic Trials.  He recovered on time and qualified for the 100m and 4 X 100m relays. After placing eighth in the Olympic 100-meter final in Rio, Bromell sprinted at the anchor position for the Americans in the relay but tore his Achilles as he dived across the finish line.
