Thomas Röhler is a German track and field athlete who excels in the Javelin throw. He created a name for himself in the javelin throw as a junior or under-20 athlete in 2010. He competed for his country in the 2010 World Junior Championships in Athletics, where he finished ninth, and made his first throw over 70 metres in that year. He concluded the year with a throw of 76.37 meters, sufficient for second place in the German junior championships. At the 2011 European Athletics U23 Championships, he improved to 78.20 meters and placed seventh. He earned his first international gold in 2013 and regularly threw farther than eighty meters.

With a throw of 90.30 meters, he captured the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, narrowly missing the Olympic record of 90.57 meters set by Andreas Thorkildsen of Norway at the Olympics in Beijing in 2008. At the 2017 IAAF World Championships, now known as World Athletics Championships, he placed fourth with a throw of 88.26 meters.
