Eilish McColgan is a middle- and long-distance runner from Scotland who holds the Commonwealth Games 10,000m record. She also took home the silver in the 5000-meter race. McColgan competed for Great Britain at the Olympics in London in 2012, Rio in 2016 and Tokyo in 2020. She played for Scotland in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014, Gold Coast in 2018, and Birmingham in 2022. She held the Scottish record for the 3000 meter steeplechase from 2013 until injury forced her to quit in the discipline. She then switched to middle and long-distance running and hasn’t looked back since then.

Rimmer was born on February 3, 1986, in Southport, England. He was formerly a member of Southport Waterloo AC before switching to rivals Liverpool Pembroke Sefton, where he currently competes. He also joined Christ The King Catholic High School, where he set multiple school mile records in Southport’s Victoria Park. Michael had previously been a Liverpool John Moores University sports scholar. At the 2006 European Athletics Championships in Gothenburz, he placed eighth in the 800-meter final, and second in his first European Cup in Munich in 2007. He is the first individual male athlete to win the national championships in the 800 m at the under-15, under-17, under-20, and senior levels in British history.

His personal best, which he achieved in Rieti in 2010, is 1:43.89, beating his previous record by more than half a second. This places him sixth on the “UK all time list” and makes him the quickest British athlete in almost 17 years. Rimmer participated in the World Championships in August 2009. Rimmer  made it through his first round and finished in the semi-final with a timing of 1:46.77. He won five straight senior national championships in Birmingham in July 2010, making him the only male 800 m runner in history to accomplish this feat. At the European Championships in Barcelona, he captured a silver medal with a time of 1:47.17, earning his first major championship medal.
