Arshad Nadeem is a Pakistani Javelin thrower who is also the reigning champion of the Commonwealth Games. He even holds the games record as he threw the javelin to a distance of 90.18 m, to clinch the gold medal ahead of World Champion Anderson Peters. Five days later, he went on to win the gold medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games 2022 held in Konya, Turkey, with a throw of 88.55 m (also Games record). This was his second medal at the competition, having won a bronze medal in 2017 with a best effort of 76.33 m. He is also the first athlete from South Asia region to breach the 90 mark.

He was the first South Asian to complete the 90-meter distance as well. Pakistan had not won a gold medal in athletics at the Commonwealth Games since 1962. With this, he again scripted history for his country at the prestigious multi-stage event.
