The third gold meeting of the World Athletics Indoor Tour, the Copernicus Cup 2023, is scheduled to take place in Toru, Poland on February 8, 2023, after meetings in Germany and the United States. The indoor gold meeting will headline multiple-world championships and Olympics medalists like Miltiadis Tentoglou, Mujinga Kambundji, Gudaf Tsegay, Keely Hodgkinson, Ewa Swoboda, and so on. Since high-class athletes are participating, the meet is expected to witness some record-breaking performances. The event is sponsored by Orlen, a Polish petroleum refineries firm.
One of Poland’s most attractive cities, Toruń, is known for its Gothic architecture, medieval walls, and castle. It is also popular for being the homeland of eminent scientist and mathematician Nicolaus Copernicus. The Copernicus Cup has been held at the multi-purpose sports and entertainment Arena Toruń since 2015. The arena is equipped with a permanent 200-meter treadmill and other infrastructure that allows athletic events at the highest national and international levels to be conducted in this facility. There were many Olympians who participated among the 2186 competitors from 37 different countries in the the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2021, hosted in this arena.
