Birmingham hosted the World Indoor Tour final, featuring a number of Olympic and world medalists shining in the athletics series conclusion. The championship meet on Saturday was the last of a gold tour series of seven competitions. The winners received wildcard tickets to the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships. Dina Asher-Smith, a local favorite and the 2019 World 200m champion, won the women’s 60-meter final in 7.05 seconds to take home one of the day’s most awaited triumphs. Laura Muir, the Olympic 1500m silver medalist, captured the 1000m final but came short of the world record and her own national record. British triumph also came in the form of Charles Dobson, who won the men’s 60m title with a timing of 6.64s.

Further national records were smashed in the men’s 1500m and women’s 800m, with Neil Gourley and World and Olympic 800m silver medalist Keely Hodgkinson blazing to victory. Hodgkinson finished in 1:57.18, breaking her own national record. Gourley won in 3:32.48, breaking Olympic 1500m bronze medalist Josh Kerr’s national record. Grant Holloway, the current world record holder in the men’s 60m hurdles, took the title with a time of 7.35, shattering the previous meet record. Now ranked second in the world, Daniel Roberts, was edged out by the 25-year-old to take first place. Gudaf Tsegay of Ethiopia narrowly missed setting a new world record in the women’s 3000 meter race.
