India surpassed New Zealand and South Africa in medal standings despite missing out on big names like Neeraj Chopra, Saina Nehwal, and Mary Kom. In the absence of Shooting, Wrestling (12) and Weightlifting (10) carried the hopes of billions as India emerged as the best nation in both disciplines.
