Indian eSports company, Nodwin Gaming, today announced India Premier Championship 2023, with Kingfisher on board as the title sponsor. Kingfisher is an Indian beer brand under Heineken-owned United Breweries Group.The tournament will be held in three sessions throughout the year and will have open qualifiers. The Winter Season is currently announced which will conclude with the LAN Finals. As in previous years, the other two seasons are expected to be summer and fall. Kingfisher India Premiership 2023 :

Kingfisher India Premiership 2023 Winter will have four games, out of which three have been announced so far. These are World Cricket Championship (WCC) 3, Tekken 7 and Clash of Clans. The fourth game will be announced later.Registrations for all three sports are currently live on the official website from 22 December to 3 January. However, only players who are 21 years of age or older can register.The total prize pool for the event has not been announced yet. However the schedule of the tournament is as follows:

While many would question alcohol advertising in eSports given the young audience, Nodwin Gaming and Kingfisher are doing it anyway. It doesn’t look like they will be promoting the beer directly – something that is not allowed as per Indian laws. The official press release for the event described Kingfisher as “a brand associated with some of the best music, food and sporting events”.

It appears that the India premiership will be used to promote the Kingfisher brand or as a surrogate advertisement through its packaged drinking water.Additionally, the registration age for the tournament has been set at 21 years, which is the legal drinking age in most parts of India.

HISTORY OF THE INDIA PREMIERSHIP :

The India Premiership has a long history in the country. The IP is owned by Nodwin Gaming and is one of the oldest tournaments in the country.Prior to this, Nodwin ran tournaments with German esports company ESL. It was called ESL India Premiership with qualifiers on ESL Play. For the Kingfisher India Premiership, however, Nodwin has moved to Start.gg.

The ESL India Premiership was launched in 2017 and consists of three seasons each year: Winter, Summer and Fall. Each season usually includes multiple games including CSGO and Dota 2. Additionally, they end up in a LAN final.However, it was not conducted in 2021 and 2022. Now, Nodwin has brought it back in 2023 with a new title sponsor.
