The full battle between Bardock and Gas is shown in the latest chapter, where it is revealed that Gas and knew about Frieza’s then-planned Genocide of the Saiyans in advance. The manga is not taking a break this month, and chapter 84 will be released on time. So far, no such postponement has been announced by the author.
When Gas threatens Monaito and Granolah, we left the last chapter with Bardock and Gas starting the fight. Gas is taken to the plains by Bardock, who separates him from the weaker Monaito. While exchanging fists, Monaito tells Bardock that he should leave and that the fight against Gas was not his. However, Bardock informs Monaito that this is his fight. Gas attempts to pummelled Bardock with his large mace, but fails when Bardock swings him out of the way.
Monaito decides to use the dragon balls to change the course of the battle after seeing Bardock do so much for him and Granolah. Gas consistently outperforms Bardock at every turn, as we can see. Monaito summons Toronbe, Cereal’s wishing dragon, while Gas is beating the living hell out of Bardock, smashing him through hill after hill. He requests that the dragon return Bardock to his home planet.
When the dragon asks Bardock if he wants to leave right away, he flatly refuses. He explains that he can’t leave because Saiyans don’t back down from any opponent.
With Bardock’s refusal, the dragon shines brightly, asking Monaito his wish once more, drawing the attention of all the remaining people in Cereal. First, Gas and Bardock notice it, and then Elec’s team notices it from afar. However, after his refusal, Monaito asks what he wishes for, and Bardock simply replies that he wishes for the success of his sons.
Back on the battlefield, however, Bardock is being thwarted by Gas, and as Gas prepares to kill Bardock, Monaito steps in. Monaito realises he must save Granolah and fight against Gas after being inspired by Bardock’s refusal to back down in the face of such a formidable foe as Gas. Gas becomes enraged by their inability to quit and enters rage mode. Gas repeatedly asks Bardock why he is fighting while pummeling him. While he continues to speculate on the reason, Gas pushes Bardock into a corner. However, he claims that he fights solely for the satisfaction of defeating the opponent in front of him, as father does son.
And while Gas keeps him on his toes, Bardock closes the gap with massive energy blasts. This is a watershed moment, as Bardock finishes Gas by telling him about how the Saiyan blood inside him boosts when he is in danger. Elec arrives to pick up Gas after he has been beaten, while also shooting Bardock in the chest. The chapter concludes with Monaito finding an injured Bardock and healing him while his scouter is left behind, from which we are witnessing these events. In the next chapter, Dragon Ball Chapter 84, we’ll see Goku learning about his father’s history and finally defeating Gas.
