Geelong-Korea will go against Sydney in the Australia ABL on December 30. After being absent from the national tournament for two years owing to the COVID-19 outbreak, GEELONG’S Australian Baseball League (ABL) club is making a comeback. The eighth team in the ABL’s organization, Geelong-Korea, which is nearly exclusively made up of Korean players, will participate in the 2022–23 season. The return of Geelong-Korea, according to ABL general manager Paul Gonzalez, is a huge announcement for the league and the City of Greater Geelong. Gonzalez expressed his delight at Geelong-Korea’s return to the team. “They bring a very special international element to the ABL, especially when you consider that the Korean baseball market is likely among the top three worldwide.
So it’s fantastic to have “GK” back in the league for the ABL as well as the other clubs and Geelong. When it was revealed that Geelong-Korea will be making a comeback to the diamond in Geelong, Geelong mayor Peter Murrihy expressed his elation. “We’re thrilled that the Geelong-Korea team will be returning to the Geelong Baseball Centre this summer after a two-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Geelong-Korea will compete against ABL teams from every significant city, including Adelaide Giants, Auckland Tuatara, Brisbane Bandits, Canberra Cavalry, Melbourne Aces, Perth Heat, and Sydney Blue Sox. On the second weekend of November, the ABL23 will get underway with a match between Geelong-Korea and the Aces in Melbourne. Beginning on November 17–20, GK will host its first home series in Round 2’s matchup with the Adelaide Giants.
