Wardlow sees similarities between himself and Batista

The comparisons between Batista and Wardlow are uncanny. Both are big men who use the powerbomb as their finisher. Both started off as bodyguards to obnoxious wrestlers.

AEW superstar and powerhouse Wardlow feels that his rivalry right now with MJF is similar to what Batista and Triple H had in the WWE. And what makes it even more special for Wardlow is that he views Batista as his idol. The comparisons between Batista and Wardlow are uncanny. Both are big men who use the powerbomb as their finisher. Both started off as bodyguards to obnoxious wrestlers. Wardlow was speaking to Shak Wrestling when he told that all this happened by chance.

He said, “We kind of mirrored it in a way, it was very different but also the same. The crazy thing is this wasn’t my idea, I didn’t have any say-so in this. This just organically happened, my career just seems to be mimicking a little bit of Batista’s. Yes, you can compare The Pinnacle to Evolution and can compare myself and Max to Triple H and Batista, it’s really unfolded very similar to how that did and it’s a really special thing because we didn’t plan it that way.”

Wardlow talks about his size advantage

Wardlow then went on to comment about his size gives him an advantage over the AEW roster. He also alluded to the fact that at one point, wrestling was all about the big guys. A lot of AEW’s top stars are small guys. Wrestlers like CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Orange Cassidy are all small guys, but Wardlow doesn’t fit into that mould.

Speaking of how he can take advantage of his size in AEW, he said, “I mean, the whole locker room was full of big guys. So now, with the way wrestling is and the fact that I am one of the only bigger guys, gives me a huge opportunity to stand out and really be the monster of the company without much competition.”

The rivalry between MJF and Wardlow all started when MJF started to run his mouth and abuse the big man time and time again. Things got heated during MJF’s feud with CM Punk but Wardlow resisted. But he couldn’t do it for much longer and turned on MJF by helping Punk in their match. Since then, Wardlow and MJF have been embroiled in a bitter feud which will come to its conclusion this weekend at AEW’s Double Or Nothing pay-per-view.
