AEW superstar Wardlow is riding quite the wave these days. The big man has been receiving a push in terms of his career and it’s fair to say that he has not disappointed. He first started off as MJF’s bodyguard and was with him through thick and thin, right from their time in the Inner Circle with Chris Jericho to their union with FTR, also known as The Pinnacle. MJF does come off as someone who is a very hard individual but Wardlow has revealed that he has learnt a lot from him.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Wardlow told how MJF is just good at making the most of any situation and just the business side of things. When asked what he learnt from MJF, Wardlow answered, “I think the biggest thing is just the business aspect of things. Like knowing your worth and making sure you are getting the most out of situations. He has a really good mind for the business and storytelling. So, I think the biggest thing is just the business aspect of it and then things that make sense. Things that truly do or do not make sense as far as storytelling.”

Rivalry with MJF

Wardlow, who was for a long time, a very faithful ally of MJF decided to cut ties with the cocky superstar and wanted to go his own way. MJF for his part made life very difficult for the big man to let loose and put him through a lot of emotional and physical pain over the last couple of months. It all started during MJF’s feud with CM Punk. Friedman became the first person to defeat Punk in AEW when he won the match thanks to interference from Wardlow. On March 6, 2022, at Revolution, Wardlow turned on MJF and helped Punk win.

Since then, both MJF and Wardlow were involved in a bitter feud where both men were intent on destroying each other. Friedman was the perfect villain who put hurdle after hurdle for the babyface. The two men finally met at AEW Double Or Nothing where Wardlow defeated MJF in convincing fashion. He dominated Friedman throughout the match and gave him his trademark powerbomb not once, not twice, but 10 times. Throughout the match, Wardlow had many opportunities to pin MJF but chose not to let him get away so easily as he was responsible for putting the big man through hell for the last couple of months.
