AEW has been having some great shows over the past couple of months and things are about to pick up pace as the giant Satnam Singh is gearing up for his much-awaited in-ring debut. AEW has been hyping up Satnam’s upcoming debut and released a video on Twitter after last night’s Dynamite episode. The video showed Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh, and their manager, Sonjay Dutt, talking about the match. Lethal began by addressing Samoa Joe and his injury which was caused by them last week and warned Joe they would have a problem if Joe decided to target him, Dutt and Singh when he returned.

Sonjay Dutt then spoke in detail about the sheer size of Singh and referred to him as “one in a billion.” One in a billion is also the name of a documentary that focused on Singh’s journey to the NBA before his wrestling career. Dutt also dedicated the match to Singh’s country India, before asking the giant to speak his mind. Singh spoke in his native language Hindi and said, “India, this Friday a tornado is coming. Watch how much fun we’re going to have.”

Satnam Singh similar to The Great Khali

Singh made his AEW debut almost two months ago on the April 13th episode of Dynamite where he attacked Samoa Joe and aligned himself with Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt. That moment received a lot of negative reaction as the fans made fun of the way Singh moved inside the ring. Reports afterwards stated Singh’s debut was tied to AEW looking to make inroads with the Indian market in a similar way to how WWE used The Great Khali. Singh also shares a very uncanny resemblance to Khali and will no doubt garner the attention of the Indian audience which will help AEW massively.

Satnam Singh was a former basketball player who was drafted in the second round by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2015 NBA draft. However, he never really made an impact in the NBA and turned to pro wrestling. He first worked out at the WWE Performance Center in 2017 before eventually signing with AEW in the fall of 2021.
