There is no timetable for The Second City Saint's AEW comeback as of this writing. Considering that the forthcoming Double or Nothing pay-per-view is yet more than 2 months away, AEW has plenty of time to select a good opponent for CM Punk anytime he reappears to television.

On this week’s AEW programming it was very noticeable without the presence of “The Best In The World”. It was very much dull without CM Punk. But very few know why he wasn’t there for AEW telivised filming. As proclaimed “best in the world” it was very much observed by the fans andd many wanted to know why CM Punk was not there at the tapings.

Though both Dynamite and Rampage featured well-received performances by some of the promotion’s biggest names, fans hoping to catch a glimpse of CM Punk as he prepares to challenge for the AEW World Championship were disappointed, leaving some to wonder what happened to the MJF’s Revolution 2022 victor.

CM Punk has been busy filming on the set of Heels, where he will reprise his role as veteran heel wrestler Ricky Rabies for the show’s forthcoming second season, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer.

“CM Punk will be part of the filming of the second season of the TV show Heels on Starz. Filming is over the next several weeks. That may be why he wasn’t on either show taped in San Antonio this week.”

CM Punk and MJF fued

Since his spectacular Dog Collar victory against MJF at Revolution 2022, Punk has been AWOL from AEW programming. A leather collar connected to their necks by a lengthy steel chain resulted in a carnage between the two combatants that night. Wardlow walked in in the last moments to present Friedman’s Dynamite Diamond ring to Punk rather than his boss, signalling a babyface switch.

The Limelight Superstar took advantage of the ring and knocked Friedman out, ultimately putting an end to his AEW rival.

While many expected Punk to reignite a rivalry after the Revolution pay-per-view, the 43-year-old has been noticeably absent from AEW events. While many fans are  eager to see what Punk has in mind for fans now that his rivalry with MJF has come to an end at this year’s AEW Revolution pay-per-view, understanding that he’ll be a part of the immensely high-rated storyline which makes the anticipation worthwhile.
